PRAYING IN AGREEMENT
“Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.” - Matthew 18:19
There is power when believers agree together in prayer. Over and over again in scripture, the bible validates the necessity of unity amongst believers.
“How good and pleasant it is when God's people live together in unity!” - Psalm 133:1
“Standing firm in one spirit, in one accord, contending together for the faith of the gospel”. - Philippians 1:27
“I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.” - 1 Corinthians 1:10
As believers and followers of Jesus Christ, we must exist in unity. The enemy knows that when we are in unity, there is power that pushes back darkness, which is why one of his main methods against the church is to cause division. We stay in unity when we are quick to forgive, refuse to hold offense toward one another, and strive together for the gospel, keeping our attention off ourselves and fixed on Him.
As we exist in unity, we can come together and pray in agreement for the things we know are according to God’s will. We know His will by knowing His Word. We can contend together for the advancement of the Kingdom of God and pray together for those things we know are His already His heart for us. I encourage you to pray for your local church body and the church globally to exist in unity as we live our lives for the cause of Christ.
